Updated shot list and "beats"

Now that i've had about 3 weeks for the animatic weekend critiques to settle in (I wanted to say fester but felt that was a bit abrasive), as well as time to consider the advice from the buddy edit and various 1:1's, here's where I'm at with the story and everything!

Don't have any updated boards, but now that I have more than low poly stand ins for my characters I do plan on mostly sticking in 3D for the rest of the semester!

Story progression:

• Cottage window > jars of spices > vulture culture >pan to sinister objects

• Cut to ritual table with a jar with a petrified beetle (or some other creature) and zoom/focus to Enoki fruitlessly pushing against her jar

• Low creak, shadow falls on shelf

  • It stops in front of Enoki’s jar for a second, she cowers away, before selecting a jar next to her with a snail

• Creature places snail in ritual circle with bright glowing sigils, removing the petrified beetle. There’s a knock at the door and the Creature walks away.

• Enoki starts ramming herself against the glass, nearly tipping it over, but a shadow passes over and she is pushed back onto the shelf.

• Enoki blanches, backing away but the Creature’s attention is pulled away by the appearance of a Faun trailing in, looking in awe around the room.

• The Creature tugs on the Faun’s antler, directing his attention towards him. He hands the Faun the ring and the broom, forcefully directing him to go elsewhere.

• Enoki glances at the ritual worriedly, the snail is halfway petrified.

• Fade out- Enoki is blearily pushing against the jar, she is tired beyond belief.

  • The beetle is now on the shelf next to her (petrified)

  • A shadow passes over the jar, Enoki tenses, looks up to see the Faun’s hand (and the sigil ring) glances up farther to see him glancing at her curiously

  • The Faun looks at her in wonder and goes to tap on the glass, but stops and saddens as he sees Enoki flinch away

  • Enoki gestures towards the beetle on the shelf and then back at herself, but the Faun just looks at her confused.

• A shadow passes over them and Enoki backs away

  • The Creature walks in and plucks up Enoki’s jar, settling her into the ritual circle, removing the petrified snail jar

  • The faun watches concerned and catches Enoki’s eyes as she starts beating against the glass, looking at him pleadingly.

  • The Faun steps forward as if to help, but the Creature puts an arm out, pointing him elsewhere.

  • The Faun starts to make his way out with his broom, conflicted as enoki continues to stare at him pleadingly. She glances (points) at the shelves and the Faun notices other mushroom folk and creatures all petrified, and the petrified snail in the jar on the table.

  • Realization and horror dawns on the Faun and he turns abruptly only to have the door slammed in his face

• Fade out to the dwelling at night, ritual is reset and sigils are glowing dully

• Enoki is leaning against the jar exhausted, blearily blinking

  • Thunk off screen, looks up and sees dark figure near the window

  • It moves towards enoki and she backs away alarmed

  • Hand reaches out and grabs the jar shoving it into a bag

• Jostling and footsteps outside the bag, Enoki getting jostled around

• cut to outdoors and we see deer feet run across screen

  • An ominous shadow trails close behind

• Cut back to Enoki in the jar getting jostled around

• Cut back to the captor, glancing at his hand as his ring glows in the darkness

  • He looks around worriedly and tries to pry the ring off, tossing it into the woods before continuing to run

• In a forest clearing, dawn breaks. The faun runs in, glancing aorund cautiously before tunring to pull something out of his satchel.

  • he pulls out enoki's jar, twisting off the top and gently lowering it to the ground

• Enoki cautiously inches her way out

  • When her feet touch the ground she looks up exhilarated

  • Quickly turns to glance back at the faun who just smiles at her encouragingly

• She walks over to him and he reaches a hand down to let her clamber on

  • They share a tender moment

• end credits: a tree with some bark missing and some bugs crawling around it. Little etchings/“carvings” of Enoki living her life in the woods. She starts to build a colony of mushrooms. The Faun stops by, older, bringing in new families of mushrooms and woodland creatures. Last shot is Enoki sitting on the fauns shoulder as they share a snack together, smiling
